- Beatty comes over because he knows Guy is experiencing the same thing all the firemen have experienced at some time in their of lives.
- He comes over to tell Guy the history of books and firemen {because many books became the same thing, and some became objective}.
- Beatty tells Guy that the point of being firemen is to burn the books that could help someone exceed to be intellectual, spiritual, and practical over others and so make everyone else feel inferior.
- Guy doesn't plan on ever going back to work at the fire station again after Beatty's visit.
- Mildred becomes frantic when both she and us find out that Guy has been smuggling books for a while.
