5 Things I Understand:
- Nettie is a missionary in Africa.
- We find out that Celie is a mother of two children.
- Celie is pretty much depressed because everything that is suppoe to be important to her isn't that important or of significance.(page 177)
- Now that Celie knows where Nettie is she can keep in contact with her.
- Celie's kids are name Samuel and Olivia.

- Why did Nettie decide to lead a life in Africa rather than in America where she was born?
- How did Nettie find out that Celie had two kids, and Celie didn't even know?
- Why is Corrine so significant to the novel as a whole?
- Why is the phrase lynched daddy repeatedly said?

- Blasphemy (Walker 192): an act of cursing or reviling God.
- Swivel (Walker 199): a fastening device that allows the thing fastened to turn around freely upon it, esp. to turn in a full circle.

1 Summary Sentence: This sections is basically about letters going backand forth between Nettie and Celie.
