5 Things I Understand:

• Shug and Mr. kind of have a on and off relationship going on.
• Celie pretty much hates Mr.
• Shug is having somewhat of a confession on page 122.
• Celie finds out that Mr.(Albert) has been stealing and hiding all the letters from Nettie.
• In this section Nettie's letters to Celie are the most important thing.

4 Questions:

• Where is Nettie?
• On page 121 why is the word "funny" italisized?
• Why was Celie picked on so much?
• Why did Albert go after Nettie after he made her leave?

3 Words:

• "...American and African Missionary Society" (Walker 128). (Def: a person sent by a church into an area to carry on evangelism or other activities, as educational or hospital work.)
• "...what they call pidgin English" (Walker 148). (Def: an artificial language used for trade between speakers of different languages.)
• "They plant cassava fields..." (walker 152). (Def: a nutritious starch from the roots, the source of tapioca.)

2 Literary Devices:

• Simile: "Little like sleeping with mama..." (Walker 114). This is a simile because Celie compares laying with Shug like laying with her mother.
• Simile: "That's why the bible says that Jesus Christ had hair like lamb's wool" (Walker 135).

1 Summary Sentence: In this section we find out the Albert has been hiding the letters sent from Nettie so that Celie would not receive them.
