-Jakes says thast the only reason why he is able to be respnosible is because he observed the hardships his mother had to go through.
-Jakes defines responsibility as not complaining about having to do different tasks even though they may get too hard.
-We get a whole new look at the King family from T.D. Jakes.
-We see how important mothers are to the world, and it is even more portrayed in Bernice King's speech.
-It was a good idea for Jakes to let Bernice tell the story of her parents since she knew them most.

-How did Jakes comfort Bernice when her father died?
-How come Coretta King stayed with Martin Luther King for so long, if she really wasn't into him?
-Why was Coretta so submissive?
-How did Jakes get the idea to incorporate more than one mother in his biography?

-Simile: "My life, like yours, has included its thrills and its chills..." (Jakes 73). This is a simile because it compares T.D. Jakes's life with the reader's life.
-Simile: "Interestingly enough, amny men often meet and marry a woman "just like Mom," only to find out that they feel pulled in different directions..." (Jakes 89). This is a simile because it compares the women men marry to the mothers of the men.
